Air Jordan 3 “Black Cement”: Everything You Need To Know

The Air Jordan 3 Black Cement is one of the most eagerly awaited sneaker releases of 2024. Set to drop on November 23rd, 2024 in sizes for the whole family, this marks the first return of the Black Cement Jordan 3s since 2018. Widely regarded as one of the greatest Air Jordans ever, some fans even consider it the best of all time.

According to the latest update from reliable source @zsneakerheadz, the Jordan 3 “Black Cement” will be a “Super GR,” meaning Jordan Brand plans to produce a large number of pairs. This ensures that anyone interested should be able to purchase them at retail price. “GR” stands for “General Release,” indicating mass production rather than a limited run.

History of the Air Jordan 3 “Black Cement”

The Air Jordan 3 “Black Cement” is one of four original colorways that debuted in 1988. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, an architect turned sneaker designer, this model played a crucial role in convincing Michael Jordan to remain with Nike after he was dissatisfied with the Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan 2.

Michael Jordan first wore the AJ3 during the 1988 NBA All-Star Game, sporting the Black/Grey colorway. He also wore the “White Cement” during the 1988 Dunk Contest.

Air Jordan 3 “Black Cement” Release History

The Black Cement 3s have been released six times so far, with the upcoming 2024 version marking the seventh release. Following the original 1988 launch, the shoe was re-released in 1994 during Jordan’s first retirement and again in 2001, both featuring the Nike Air logo on the heel.

In 2008, the shoe returned as part of the “Countdown Package” series, which paired two Air Jordans that added up to 23 (the Air Jordan 3 was paired with the Air Jordan 20). This version featured the Jumpman logo on the heel. It was re-released again in 2011 as a solo release, also with the Jumpman logo.

The most recent release was in 2018 during All-Star Weekend, priced at $200 and featuring Nike Air on the heel. These Black Cement 3s were highly sought after and sold out quickly.
