This year brings one of the most surprising collaborations yet: Nike has joined forces with the Tekken video game series for a special project featuring the Nike Air Foamposite One. That’s right—get ready for Tekken 8-themed Foamposites, hitting Nike stores soon.
Let’s break down the design: The Air Foamposite One boasts a fully iridescent upper, complemented by a croc-skin overlay reminiscent of the exotic leathers on Kazuya Mishima’s jacket, a central character in Tekken. Instead of the usual carbon-fiber mid-foot plate, there’s a sleek black plate, and the collar around the laces and ankle swaps suede for leather.
You’ll find Tekken 8 symbols on the left tongue and insole, with Mishima’s signature Fist move highlighted in the unique translucent rubber outsole design. Even the shoe packaging breaks convention—it opens in the middle with both shoes secured by elastic straps.
Interestingly, the official images debuted on July 8th, 2024, which also happened to be National Video Game Day—a fitting nod. While the release is set for September, keep an eye out as Nike might surprise us with earlier drops.
