As spring approaches, adidas is gearing up to unveil fresh, distinctive designs for the beloved everyday staple, the adidas Samba. Drawing inspiration from a lesser-known gem in their archives, the adidas Tischtennis, the latest Samba iterations are poised to make a statement.
The adidas Tischtennis, a vintage tennis shoe from the 1970s, made a comeback last month, sparking a wave of influence on the new Samba designs. One standout feature of the Tischtennis is its open mesh base, a characteristic that now finds its way into the construction of the Samba. However, the Samba takes it a step further by incorporating an additional layer beneath its mesh overlays, ensuring breathability and lightness with a twist. Despite this modification, the shared mesh pattern creates a cohesive link between the two models.
The highlighted colorway boasts tan mesh with accents in “Preloved Red” set atop a gum sole. Additionally, there’s a fully brown version following the same design theme. Both pairs are set to drop on April 1st at adidas.com, priced at $120 each—a slight bump from the Samba’s usual $100 tag.
